Ten years after Deirdre “Little Darling” Franklin started Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc., a not-for-profit canine advocacy group that raises awareness through eye-catching pinup girl calendars, The Overlook Press will publish a collection of the best photography from past years alongside Franklin’s personal story, educational facts about the pit bull breed, and positive training tips.
The book, entitled Little Darling’s Pinups For Pitbulls: A Celebration of America’s Most Lovable Dogs, gives readers the unique combination of photography, pets, and pinups.
Featuring the talents of some of the best contemporary pinup photographers, the book acts as a history of Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc., allowing readers to enjoy the art, furry critters, and beautiful pinups that have been a part of its legacy.
Little Darling’s Pinups for Pitbulls is more than a quirky coffee table book. It addresses a real problem in our country of the media’s demonization of pit bulls. Deirdre is a tireless advocate for animal rights, and her book is a unique way to send her message to the masses.
For the last decade, Deirdre Franklin and Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc. have been championing the pit bull’s cause. This book is a celebration as much of their work as it is of the dogs that continue to inspire Franklin every day.
The author, Deirdre “Little Darling” Franklin, is the founder, President, and soul behind Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc., a not-for-profit organization with a mission to educate people about the history, temperament, and plight of the pit bull. She holds a M.S. degree in Public Policy from Drexel University, where she specialized in breed-specific legislation. She lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband Jeffrey and their two furry children, Baxter Bean and Zoe.
